National Chomps.

So last night was fun! We had our friends Alan and Lori over and we all watched the College Football National Championship game. Gavin’s beloved Florida Gators made it to the show, and Alan and Lori are Gator alums, so it was a big Gator love-fest at my place last night, complete with me wearing my new authentic straight-outta-Gainesville Gators wifebeater that Mary gave me. (She says it’s a “ribbed tank”... riiiiiight - j/k Mary - you know I loves it... I actually wore it to bed after the game, it was so comfy - soft and cottony).

So anyway, I was jealous and bitter, cursing Auburn’s suckitude once again. BUT, Auburn is an SEC team after all, and SEC wins over other conferences garner more respect for the conference as a whole, which benefits Auburn, so I feel like that justifies the wifebeater love. I made pizza rolls and baked cookies for us to chomp on. The beverage of choice was beer.

Another thing: can I just say that shopping really is a pleasure at Publix? Lori and I went there at halftime to re-beer and get cookie dough and had the nicest conversation with our checkout-lady, Dorothy. Last time I was there I had a similar experience with Anthony, the young man who checked me out that day. This is way fun for me, since I love talking to strangers. I’ll still do most of my shopping at Wally-mart because it’s so cheap, but Publix, I love you.

Tomorrow we head down to Tampa for our pals’ wedding - stay tuned for pics of the party!

Bets,

Congrats to Gavin - blah blah blah

Love the pic - you make a wife-beater tank look good! But please reveal - who wore the requisite jorts?

I am also impressed with your culinary skills - pizza rolls - how tasty and gatorlicious.

Publix/Nirvana is fantastic - Hill and I stumbled into the produce dept in the Gulf Breeze Publix, and we haven't been the same since our born again produce aisle experience. Try the berry bowl(a moment of silence) it is exquisite.

No one even clipped my heels with their cart while I was there!

On the downside, I do need a 2nd job now to pay for our fruit and vegetables.

Go Lynx!

Maria: soooo true about the Publix berry bowl. Holy shat. I love it too, but I know what you mean about needing a second job... that little bowl of berries is like $6, WTF! Sometimes I just like to stroll around and look at all the fruit.

The pizza rolls and cookies were both publix brand and divine. Oh how I love publix.

No one wore jorts, but that was probably just because it was cold out.

That ribbed tank top looked awesome on you! That really was the best I could do, which is a testament to the clothing tastes around here. The rest of the shirts had some sort of phrase that I didn't understand because I'm old and out of touch. Though still totally awesome, I might add. Miss you!

I'll put my Earth Fare against your publix any day! you know one sunday I was in earth fare, and i was kinda digging the jazzy music stylings, then when i was checking out, i saw it was a real guy on a real piano playing the jazz... i love u earth fare... see u soon... o dang i forgot how you appreciate the punctuation and capitalization - i will do much better in future comments, promise!

Ooh, loving the post. I salivated as I read about the pizza rolls and baked cookies just now. Mmmmmm

Thanks for another brilliant night filled with prophetic Publix cashiers and educational lessons to enrich the mind (e.g., the origin of the term "Sooners"). Good stuff.

And I'm proud to say that both Alan and I are non-jorts-wearing Gator fans. I remember the first time I ever heard the word jorts. I had to google it and ended up here: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=jorts

Enjoy!
